VantageScore was developed collaboratively by Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion in 2006 as an alternative scoring model to FICO. Because all three bureaus built it together, the same VantageScore algorithm is applied consistently across all three bureaus, which reduces variation between bureau scores. As of 2023, VantageScore reports processing over 14 billion scores annually.
